2026 Upcoming SUVs in India: The Indian automobile market is preparing for the launch of several new SUVs in the coming months. These upcoming models will strengthen different segments, including sub-4-meter SUVs and large seven-seater vehicles. Customers will get options of petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. Some of these SUVs will be updated versions of existing models, while others will be completely new offerings.
Volkswagen is getting ready to introduce the Tayron R-Line, which will be the brand’s flagship SUV. Positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, this model will mark Volkswagen’s entry into the premium three-row SUV space. The Tayron R-Line will come with sporty R-Line styling and will be launched in India as a CKD model. It is expected to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Power will be sent to all wheels through a seven-speed DCT gearbox.
MG is also gearing up for the launch of the Majestor SUV, which was first showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The company plans to launch it in India on February 12. This SUV is expected to replace the Gloster in MG’s lineup and will focus on features and off-road capability. It will use a 2.0-liter diesel engine delivering 210 hp and 478 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Nissan has confirmed plans to launch multiple new models in India, including the Tekton SUV and Gravite MPV. After these launches, the company will introduce a new 7-seater SUV based on the CMF-B platform. This model is expected to arrive by the end of the year and is part of Nissan’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the Indian market.
Mahindra is preparing a facelift version of the Scorpio-N, which was originally launched in 2022. The SUV has performed well in sales, and test vehicles of the updated model have been spotted several times. The facelift is not expected to bring major design changes, and the existing engine and transmission options are likely to continue.
Renault will expand its lineup after launching the new-generation Duster by introducing a 7-seater SUV called Boreal. Built on the same platform as the Duster, the Boreal will share its engines but feature unique design elements. It is expected to come with Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and several modern features, helping Renault build a stronger presence in a new segment.
