June 2026 is set to be a blockbuster month for the Indian automotive sector, with a flurry of high-profile launches spanning across multiple price brackets and powertrains. Buyers planning to purchase a new vehicle will have choices ranging from mass-market electric SUVs to ultra-luxury performance machines. Key highlights for the month include the Tata Sierra EV, Mercedes S-Class Facelift, and the BMW X6 M60i.
Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors is expected to debut the new Sierra EV this month, marking its next major flagship product in the electric SUV space following the Tiago EV. The upcoming vehicle will be available in both Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) configurations. Reports suggest that the Sierra EV will deliver a real-world driving range of over 500 kilometers.
Visually, the electric SUV will retain much of the styling language of its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) counterpart, while receiving EV-specific updates like a closed-off front grille, redesigned bumpers, and aerodynamic alloy wheels. Upon launch, it will compete directly against the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti e Vitara, and MG ZS EV.
BYD to Introduce First PHEV
BYD India has released a teaser for its first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) ahead of its June launch. While the carmaker has kept the exact model name under wraps, speculations suggest it could either be the Atto 2 PHEV or the Sealion 6 PHEV. If introduced, the Atto 2 PHEV will feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 7.8kWh or an 18kWh battery pack, offering a massive combined cruising range of up to 998 kilometers. On the other hand, the Sealion 6 PHEV boasts an even higher claimed range of up to 1,092 kilometers on a single charge.
Skoda Kodiaq RS
Skoda is preparing to bring its first-ever RS-badged SUV to the Indian market with the launch of the Kodiaq RS. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, the performance SUV produces an additional 60hp and 80Nm of torque over the standard version. Power will be sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) and an AWD system. To match its performance capabilities, the Kodiaq RS will feature a blacked-out front grille, sportier bumpers, massive 20-inch alloy wheels, and distinct red brake calipers.
BMW X6 M60i
BMW has already opened pre-bookings for the high-performance X6 M60i, which is scheduled to hit the Indian market in June 2026. Under the hood, the luxury coupe-SUV houses a massive 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid petrol engine, delivering 523hp of maximum power and 750Nm of peak torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an AWD setup, the SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h
