HAMIRPUR: Former Union Minister and BJP MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur, has expressed strong displeasure over social media posts and AI-generated creatives speculating that he will contest the upcoming Himachal Pradesh assembly elections and take charge of leading the state.
Issuing a stern warning against those floating his candidature from various assembly seats using artificial intelligence, Thakur said such misleading posts are neither in the interest of the party nor in his personal interest.
In a reaction shared on social media on Tuesday, the Hamirpur MP emphasized that within the BJP, the spirit of being a party worker holds greater importance than holding any post. He stated that he remains fully dedicated as a worker to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Taking aim at those circulating baseless news on digital platforms, Thakur urged everyone to maintain discipline and adhere strictly to the party line. He termed the use of AI to create graphics showing his claim over different assembly constituencies as deeply regrettable.
Appealing to the public and social media users to refrain from posting or spreading misleading reports regarding his role in the upcoming assembly elections, the senior leader warned of strict action against those who continue to do so.
Highlighting his journey as an elected representative, Thakur noted that the voters of the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency have chosen him as their voice in the Lok Sabha five consecutive times. He added that he believes in carrying out his assigned responsibilities with complete honesty and dedication.
Thakur also called upon BJP workers to stay united and work together to ensure a decisive majority and form the party’s government in the upcoming assembly elections.
“It is worth noting that reports claiming BJP MP Anurag Thakur will contest the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections are completely misleading and false. Recently, rumors were circulating on social media suggesting he might run in the upcoming assembly polls, with some posts even speculating about specific constituencies.
Taking strong exception to this, Anurag Thakur warned of strict legal action against those spreading such fake and deceptive news on social media.
Notably, the voters of the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency have shown unwavering faith in him, electing him to the Lok Sabha for five consecutive terms to serve as their strong voice. Since his father, Prem Kumar Dhumal, is a former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, supporters have frequently raised slogans across various platforms urging him to take up a leadership role in the state. However, Anurag Thakur has consistently prioritized the party’s interests above all else.”
