SHIMLA: Aiming to retain power in the 2027 Assembly elections, the Himachal Congress has initiated a major organizational push to strengthen its presence at the grass-roots level.
As part of this exercise, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will interact directly with 50 key party workers from each of the state’s 68 Assembly constituencies over the next three months.
The outreach program has already commenced with workers from the Pachhad and Chopal constituencies. On Monday, the Chief Minister will meet workers from Una and Nahan at his official residence, Oak Over.
Under the second phase of the strategy, the party plans to assign cabinet ministers as in-charges for different districts. Himachal Pradesh Congress President Vinay Kumar has sent a proposal to the party high command for approval. Once cleared, appointment orders will be issued officially.
These minister-in-charges will routinely visit their assigned districts, hold meetings with local cadres, review organizational activities, and take necessary measures to resolve issues related to the state government.
The party headquarters will collect feedback from these meetings to assess performance. Block and district presidents will also participate, and their work will be evaluated. Congress leaders believe this initiative will ensure workers’ voices reach the government quickly, improve coordination between the party and administration, and solidify the ground base ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Direct dialogue with workers from all Assembly constituencies will be completed within three months. The proposal to appoint cabinet ministers as district in-charges has been sent to the high command and will be implemented upon approval. The objective is to strengthen the organization at the grass roots and ensure Congress returns to power in 2027,” state party chief Vinay Kumar said.
