Hyderabad Bengaluru Bus Accident: A tragic accident occurred in Andhra Pradesh. A private luxury passenger bus caught fire in the Kurnool district early this morning. Several people were reportedly burned alive in the incident. The accident occurred near Chinna Tekuru village on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway, turning a normal overnight journey into a fire and chaos. The bus was carrying 40 passengers, and several are undergoing treatment. Authorities have reported that 20 people have died so far, with 12 of the bodies identified.
According to initial reports, the bus belonged to the private travel company Kaveri. The bus collided with a motorcycle, triggering a massive fire that engulfed the vehicle within minutes.
The fire broke out early this morning while all the passengers were sleeping. The luxury AC bus was locked from all sides and was inside a box inside the bus, preventing them from escaping. The bus was completely reduced to ashes in an instant. This tragedy has shocked everyone.
According to information received, the bus was registered in 2018. The permit, along with fitness and insurance, was valid for two years, meaning the documents were complete. The accident occurred between 2:30 and 3:00 am. As the bus caught fire, the driver jumped out of the car and fled the scene. Police are searching for him to determine the cause of the accident. The bodies have been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination.
According to media reports, Kurnool District Collector Dr. A. Siri stated that 41 passengers and an additional driver were on board the bus. 21 passengers survived the accident, while 20 injured were hospitalized. Three of them are said to be in critical condition and are receiving treatment at private hospitals. Eleven bodies have been identified, and efforts are underway to identify the remaining victims.
Kurnool Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil said that a motorcycle caught under the bus caused a spark, which is suspected to have started the fire. However, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is investigating to determine the exact cause. Police are also searching for missing passengers and identifying the victims.
President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi have expressed deep condolences over this tragic accident.
PM Modi said, “This tragic incident is deeply saddening. My condolences are with the families of the victims. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.” Announcing compensation, the Prime Minister said that the families of the deceased will receive ₹2 lakh and the injured ₹50,000 from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
