Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has stepped into the campaign arena for the Bihar assembly elections. On Saturday, she addressed a public rally in Bachhwara, Begusarai, in support of Congress candidate Garibdas. During her speech, she launched a fierce attack on the Nitish Kumar government and the BJP.
She stated that the people of Bihar are suffering due to migration, forced to leave their farms and homes. She accused the government of breaking the back of the common man with rising prices and taxes.
“After 20 Years of NDA, Where are the Jobs?”
Priyanka Gandhi questioned the NDA’s track record, saying, “The NDA has been in power in Bihar for 20 years, yet people are still troubled. Now, they are talking about employment. Their big leaders claim from the stage that they will provide one crore jobs if they return to power. But the question is, why didn’t they provide these jobs in their 20 years?”
She alleged that the NDA has nothing left to offer and is now only making big promises to get votes.
“National Assets Sold to 2 Friends”
In a sharp critique, she said, “The national assets, which provided employment, have all been given to their two friends. The country’s wealth has been privatized, everything is being run on contract.” She urged people to “wake up” and take their destiny into their own hands.
She also claimed that in Bihar, land is being sold for a pittance, yet the NDA shamelessly claims to have changed people’s lives. She challenged the crowd, “You tell me, what has changed with this inflation? Prices have risen. What will you feed your children? If you ask an NDA candidate this, they will have no answer.”
“Women Still Unsafe in Bihar”
Targeting the government on women’s safety, she said, “The NDA government makes big claims about women in Bihar, but the reality is the opposite. Crimes against women have increased. They have done nothing for women, who still feel unsafe and are afraid to step out after dusk.” She alleged that the direct transfer of Rs. 10,000 to women’s accounts just before elections shows their “intentions are not good.”
“PM Modi is Lying, it’s a Single-Engine Government”
In a direct rebuttal to PM Modi’s ‘double-engine government’ pitch, Priyanka said, “PM Modi says to vote for a double-engine government, but he is lying. It is a single-engine government. The Bihar government is run from Delhi. All decisions are taken from Delhi. CM Nitish Kumar is not being respected.”
“IITs and AIIMS are Nehru’s Legacy”
She credited the Congress for Bihar’s development, saying, “All the factories that exist in Bihar were set up due to the Congress’s initiatives. Institutions like IITs and AIIMS were built by Jawaharlal Nehru. The NDA government has done nothing here in the last 20 years.”
Call for ‘Liberation’ from NDA
She concluded with an appeal to vote for the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (Grand Alliance) to build a new Bihar, promising a job for every family and 200 units of free electricity if the alliance comes to power. She urged people not to be misled and to begin the change in Bihar by voting for the Grand Alliance candidates.
