Gold and silver prices have once again recorded a decline. This fall came as investors turned cautious due to growing uncertainty in the United States over the appointment of a new Federal Reserve official, which triggered heavy selling in the market. Today’s trading session remained highly volatile throughout. Spot gold had crossed the level of 5,000 dollars per ounce, but later witnessed a sharp correction and fell by up to 2.5 percent.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for April delivery slipped by 4,591 rupees to trade at 1,48,455 rupees per 10 grams. At the same time, silver for March delivery saw a steep fall of 24,196 rupees, or nearly 10 percent, and settled at 2,44,654 rupees per kilogram.

In major cities across the country, gold prices also showed variation. On Thursday, February 5, in the national capital, 24-carat gold was sold at 1,52,280 rupees per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at 1,39,590 rupees per 10 grams. In Mumbai, 24-carat gold was available at 1,52,000 rupees per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at 1,39,333 rupees per 10 grams.

In Kolkata, 24-carat gold was trading at 1,51,670 rupees per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at 1,39,031 rupees per 10 grams. On Thursday, gold prices in Bengaluru showed 24-carat gold at 1,51,990 rupees and 22-carat gold at 1,39,324 rupees per 10 grams. Meanwhile, in Chennai, 24-carat gold was priced at 1,52,310 rupees and 22-carat gold at 1,39,618 rupees per 10 grams.
