Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the State Government is actively integrating farmers into the development process. The Council of Ministers took a historic decision to provide compensation at four times the market rate for the acquisition of agricultural land. This will facilitate farmers in purchasing new land, thereby minimizing land acquisition-related issues. The entire economy stands to benefit from this measure. This marks a significant step towards the prosperity of farmers

During a cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that the Government of Madhya Pradesh has revised the “Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2015” for rural areas by increasing the multiplication factor from 1.0 to 2.0. Consequently, farmers will now be eligible to receive compensation amounting to four times the total market value of their land.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that this decision will enable farmers to receive enhanced financial compensation for agricultural land acquired by the Central and State governments for the construction of irrigation projects, roads, bridges, railways, and dams. This initiative will not only accelerate the pace of development works but also bring about a significant improvement in the economic condition of the farming families who provide their land. Furthermore, the pace of development activities in both urban and rural areas is expected to gain momentum.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also mentioned that efforts are underway to establish a metropolitan city within Madhya Pradesh. Such a project will necessitate land acquisition. Over the past three years, a sum of ₹16,000 crore has been disbursed to farmers through various projects. The annual compensation amount has now been quadrupled rising from a previous figure of approximately ₹5,000 crore meaning that farmers will henceforth receive compensation totaling approximately ₹20,000 crore annually.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that in the year 2026, continuous efforts will be undertaken for the welfare of farmers. Global exports of wheat have declined. Under these circumstances, the government stands firmly with the farmers. Wheat is procured from both large and small-scale farmers. Farmers also receive a bonus. The warehouses currently hold wheat stocks from the previous year as well. Wheat production has witnessed an increase this year. The State Government will procure wheat in the best interests of the food producers. The Government of India has projected a procurement target of 78 lakh metric tonnes.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further stated that the State Government has increased the budgetary allocation for the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ in order to fulfill all its commitments regarding farmers and women’s empowerment. No welfare scheme has been halted. The falsehoods currently being circulated regarding the discontinuation of these schemes have been exposed. The State Government has presented a budget of ₹4,21,000 crore for the financial year 2026-27. We are moving forward while ensuring comprehensive financial management, in strict accordance with the guidelines laid down by NITI Aayog.
