Chennai, Tamil Nadu: On July 13, 2025, Ajith Kumar Custodial Death: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay has sharply criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin over the custodial death of Ajith Kumar, a young temple security guard from a poor family.

Speaking on July 13, 2025, Vijay questioned the government’s response to custodial violence, demanding equal justice for 24 other victims who died in custody under the DMK regime. He called for transparency and accountability in handling such cases.

Ajith Kumar’s Death Raises Questions

Vijay highlighted that Ajith Kumar, hailing from a humble background, died in custody, prompting an apology and financial aid from CM Stalin. However, he questioned whether the same support was extended to the families of 24 other custodial death victims. “An apology is not enough; every family deserves justice,” Vijay asserted.

Ajith Kumar Custodial Death: CBI Probe Under Fire

Vijay criticized the transfer of Ajith Kumar’s case to the CBI, recalling Stalin’s past claim that such a move was a “shame” to Tamil Nadu Police during the Sathankulam case. He accused the CM of hiding behind the Union Government, alleging the CBI’s links to BJP and RSS. “Why rely on a CBI you once criticized?” he asked.

Demand for Court-Monitored Probe

The TVK chief demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT), monitored by the courts, to investigate Ajith Kumar’s death and other custodial cases. He stressed that only an independent probe could ensure fairness and rebuild public trust. Vijay’s remarks reflect growing concerns over police brutality in Tamil Nadu.
