Cupertino, July 10, 2025 —Apple Inc. has appointed longtime insider Sabih Khan as its new chief operating officer, succeeding Jeff Williams in a move that marks a carefully orchestrated leadership transition.

Khan, who has spent 30 years with the company and currently serves as senior vice president of operations, will assume his new role later this month, according to a statement from the iPhone maker.
Before joining Apple’s procurement group in 1995, Khan held positions as an applications development engineer and key account technical leader at GE Plastics. His extensive experience within Apple has been instrumental in delivering the company’s innovative products to market, making him a natural choice for the COO position.
Jeff Williams, who has been Apple’s COO, will continue to report to CEO Tim Cook and will take on oversight of the company’s design team and Apple Watch initiatives. Following Williams’ retirement later this year, the design team will report directly to Cook, ensuring continuity in leadership.
This transition reflects Apple’s strategy to maintain stability and expertise at the helm as it navigates the evolving tech landscape. Khan’s appointment underscores Apple’s commitment to leveraging internal talent to drive its operational excellence forward.
