The quiet stretch of the Shimla-Matour National Highway was shaken after the Sadar Police team executed a clinical raid on Brother Hotel in the Tiyale Da Ghatt area of Hamirpur, exposing a long-running sex racket operating right under the noses of the local administration.
Acting on persistent intelligence and local whispers about suspicious movements at the establishment, a team led by the Station House Officer swooped in to find three women trapped in the trade. This isn’t the first time the hotel has landed in the sarkar’s crosshairs, as previous complaints had already put the property on a high-priority watch list.
The operation was the result of weeks of meticulous planning and surveillance. During the surprise raid, the police team rescued 29-year-old Rajwinder Kaur and 24-year-old Rajwinder, alias Sweety, both hailing from Tarn Taran, along with 30-year-old Manpreet from Amritsar.
Initial questioning at the scene pointed toward their involvement in immoral activities, prompting the police to immediately take them into protective custody. The women were later put through a medical examination and presented before the Hamirpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate to record their official statements, ensuring the legal process moved swiftly.
The heat has now turned toward the management, with the police filing a formal case against the brothers who run the hotel, Prithi Chand and Kashmir Singh. Investigators believe the duo had been using the premises as a hub for illegal activities for a significant amount of time, turning a hospitality business into a front for a wider network.
Currently, the rescued women have been moved to the One Stop Center in Hamirpur, where they are receiving necessary counseling and security while the authorities dig deeper into the case.
Local officials have made it clear that this crackdown is just the beginning. The police are now working to identify other players linked to this network, spanning across district and state borders.
With the Shimla-Matour highway being a vital artery for the region, the department is determined to scrub the area clean of such illegal trades, promising a sustained campaign to ensure that no other hotels or guest houses are used for such exploitation in the future.
