Sirmaur Police Arrest Three in Kolar Sword Attack, Seize Vehicles from Haryana

Sirmaur:: In a significant breakthrough, Sirmaur police have arrested three persons, including the main accused, in connection with the sensational sword and stick attack on a father-son pair inside their shop in the Kollar area under Majra police station.

The arrests, made from neighbouring Haryana, have brought some relief to the local community where the brutal incident on May 11 had triggered widespread fear and anger.

According to police, the attack stemmed from a petty dispute that escalated quickly. Two days before the incident, a verbal clash took place between a dumper driver and his father on one side and the victims on the other. On the night of May 11, five to six masked youths arrived in a black vehicle, forced their way into the shop run by Vishal Kundal, and attacked him and his father with swords and lathis. Both suffered serious injuries before the attackers fled.

A case was registered at Majra police station under sections related to attempt to murder and other offences.

Swift Police Action
Superintendent of Police Sirmaur N.S. Negi directed the formation of special teams immediately after the complaint. Teams from Majra police station and the district cyber cell worked together, using mobile location tracking, technical analysis, and secret inputs to trace the accused who had escaped to Haryana.

In a coordinated operation, police nabbed Raman -identified as the main accused – along with two others. They also recovered two vehicles used in the crime. Preliminary investigation suggests the attack was pre-planned.

This prompt action has been welcomed by local residents worried about rising incidents of group violence in otherwise peaceful rural pockets of the district. In areas like Sirmaur, where inter-state borders make it easy for offenders to slip away, such cross-border tracking reassures people that police can deliver results when serious crimes occur.

Ongoing Investigation
The three arrested persons were produced in court on Saturday and have been remanded to police custody for four days. During this period, investigators expect to uncover more details about the conspiracy, the role of other possible accused, and the exact sequence of events.

SP Negi said the focus remains on a thorough probe. “We are questioning the accused intensively. The aim is to ensure that all those involved are brought to book and that no loose ends remain,” he added.

For the victims’ family, the arrests mark an important step towards justice, though the road to full recovery remains long. Both father and son are still undergoing treatment for their injuries.

Importance for Local Safety
Incidents involving weapons like swords often leave lasting fear in small communities, especially when they happen inside homes or shops. Police officials say quick arrests not only help in gathering evidence while memories are fresh but also send a strong message against taking the law into one’s hands over minor disputes.

In Himachal Pradesh, where tourism and normal life depend on a sense of security, such cases test the effectiveness of policing. The use of technology and inter-state coordination shown here is being seen as a practical model for handling similar crimes in the future.

As the investigation continues, people in Kollar and surrounding villages are hoping that the matter reaches its logical end soon and that normalcy returns to the area.
