NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding SIR, alleging that Gandhi is attempting to protect infiltrators under its guise. Shah stated that the people of the country understand this strategy well and will no longer fall for his misguidance, adding that Gandhi and his associates must realize that the public recognizes their intentions.

Taking a dig at the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, Shah claimed that Rahul Gandhi and his allies should prepare for another crushing defeat. He asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will return to power with a massive majority in the 2029 general elections, marking the fourth consecutive electoral defeat for the Congress party.

Shah remarked that ever since Rahul Gandhi took charge as the primary leader of Congress, the party has continuously lost elections. “By gathering a crowd of 8,000 people over a 1.5-kilometer area with the cadres of 14 parties, you cannot become the voice of the nation,” Shah said, adding that the negative politics practiced by Congress today will yield no benefits and that the public is no longer deceived.

Highlighting recent electoral results, Shah mentioned that elections were held for three municipal bodies and corporations in Gujarat, where the BJP secured a landslide victory on 90 out of 104 total seats. In the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, the BJP won 38 out of 44 seats, while AAP contested 32 seats and lost its deposit on all of them. He noted that voters in Gujarat stand firmly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Congress has not won an election here in 41 years.

“I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, is this the result of SIR? You deny Prime Minister Modi’s popularity in the name of SIR. This is a time for introspection for them,” Shah said. He pointed out that in recent by-elections across three states—West Bengal, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu-Congress failed to win a single seat, while the BJP achieved a massive victory in local body elections in Rajasthan, serving as a lesson for Rahul Gandhi.

The Home Minister also cited the village committee elections in Tripura, where the NDA won over 4,000 seats out of 4,600, securing a 77.5 percent vote share across 3,248 and 900 seats. Addressing those who criticize electronic voting machines, Shah noted that these elections were conducted using ballot papers, thereby refuting the argument that machines alone are responsible for BJP victories.
