Una: In a major operation late Saturday evening, the Special Task Force (Himachal STF) Narcotics Kangra unit apprehended three individuals and seized a substantial quantity of heroin in the Una district. The operation, conducted with surgical precision, has dealt a significant blow to the illicit drug network operating in the region.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, a dedicated anti-chitta (heroin) team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Renu Kumari, established a special checkpoint on the Santoshgarh-Nangada road. The team was meticulously screening vehicles when they flagged down a car bearing the registration number HP 20J-6570, which was arriving from the Tahliwal side. Officers on duty found the vehicle’s movement to be suspicious and directed it to stop for a thorough inspection.
During the search of the vehicle, law enforcement officers recovered 15 packets of the narcotic substance ‘chitta.’ Upon weighing the contraband, the total quantity was determined to be 1 kilogram and 5 grams. Sources indicate the market value of this seizure amounts to several crores of rupees. The car used for the transportation of the illegal consignment has also been impounded.
The three occupants of the vehicle were immediately taken into custody. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sarvjeet Singh (28), son of Santokh Singh, a resident of Upper Dehlan; Gurmukh Singh (40), son of Narayan Das, a resident of Barnoh; and Rahul Sharma (33), son of Subhash Chand Sharma, a resident of Raipur Sahoda. The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant legal provisions.
According to ASP Renu Kumari, intensive interrogation of the arrested persons is currently underway. The investigation is now focused on dismantling the larger network, uncovering the main sources of the narcotics, and identifying any other associates involved in this illegal trade. Authorities have indicated that further arrests are likely in the coming days as the probe deepens. Local residents have expressed relief and commended the swift police action.
