Shimla News: High drama unfolded on the streets of Shimla early this morning as Yudhveer Bains engaged in a heated altercation with police personnel. The leader was stopped by security forces, leading to a prolonged standoff that disrupted traffic and escalated political tensions in the capital city.

During the incident, which has since circulated widely on social media, Bains alleged that the administration is targeting him. He asserted that the police intervention was a facade for an attempted kidnapping orchestrated by the state leadership.

The leader linked these actions to a formal complaint he lodged with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding alleged corruption by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Bains warned that on-site police officials would be held accountable should any harm befall him.

Responding to the allegations, police officials present at the scene stated they were acting on orders to conduct a routine verification. Bains rejected this explanation, characterizing the blockade as a “murder of democracy” in a detailed statement shared on his Facebook profile.

The background of the conflict involves significant financial scrutiny. Yudhveer Bains, a businessman from Mandi, is currently embroiled in a controversy regarding a 65 crore loan from the Kangra Central Cooperative Bank (KCCB) for a hotel project in Manali.

Records indicate the loan was sanctioned during the 2012-2017 Congress administration, allegedly bypassing NABARD and RBI guidelines. Reports suggest a 20 crore installment was released without the bank MD’s consent, leading to Bains being declared a defaulter.

The case gained further notoriety due to a past donation of 11 lakh to the Vivekananda Trust, which was later returned by former CM Shanta Kumar. Despite previous investigations, additional funds were reportedly released to Bains during the subsequent BJP tenure.

The Vigilance Bureau is currently investigating the role of bank officials in these irregularities. Notably, Bains currently receives security detail from the Ministry of Home Affairs, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing dispute.

This direct confrontation between a party leader and his own government has caused significant ripples in Himachal Pradesh’s political landscape. While the police attempt to maintain order, an official response from the state government regarding these specific allegations is still awaited.
