Kangra Volvo Bus Attack: A violent confrontation unfolded late Wednesday night in the Bairghatta area near Thural, Kangra, as four men in a Punjab-registered Thar intercepted a Volvo bus. The attackers forcibly dragged the driver from his seat and initiated a brutal assault using knives and firearms.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants fired shots into the air to intimidate passengers and locals. During the struggle, the attackers held the driver at gunpoint, threatening his life while inflicting multiple stab wounds.

The driver, identified as 48-year-old Raj Kumar of Baijnath, and conductor Pravesh Kumar of Jwalamukhi, sustained deep injuries to their stomachs and backs. Despite heavy bleeding, Raj Kumar managed to snatch the ignition keys from the attackers’ Thar, preventing their escape.

Attracted by the commotion, local villagers rushed to the scene and apprehended all four suspects before they could flee on foot. The swift intervention of the community ensured the attackers remained in custody until law enforcement arrived.

Raj Kumar was initially rushed to the Civil Hospital in Thural, but due to the critical nature of his injuries, medical professionals referred him to Tanda Medical College for specialized treatment. The conductor and two others also received medical attention for injuries sustained during the brawl.

Police have confirmed the arrest of the individuals involved. The suspects have been identified as Balwinder Singh (45) and Alish (21) from Pathankot, and Nishan Pal (46) from Hoshiarpur. Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the targeted assault.
