NEET UG Re-exam Date Out: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the new date for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026. Following the cancellation of the initial exam held on May 3 due to a paper leak, the re-examination is now scheduled to take place on June 21, 2026 (Sunday). The decision was finalized after the central government granted the necessary approvals to ensure the integrity of the medical entrance process.

This announcement brings clarity to lakhs of medical aspirants across the country who have been in a state of uncertainty since the paper leak allegations surfaced. The NTA has emphasized that this fresh attempt is being organized with a focus on maintaining absolute transparency. The agency has also issued a stern advisory to students and parents, urging them to rely exclusively on official NTA communication channels for updates and information.

High-Level Security Review at Education Minister’s Residence
The finalization of the exam date was preceded by a high-stakes meeting held late Thursday evening at the residence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The meeting was convened to review the administrative and security preparations required for conducting a nationwide examination of this scale. Sources indicate that the discussion focused heavily on implementing a foolproof mechanism to prevent any further security breaches.

The meeting saw the participation of top-tier officials including Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi and School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar. They were joined by the Director General of the NTA, Abhishek Singh, the Chairperson of the CBSE, and the Commissioners of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). The presence of these officials underscores the government’s intent to mobilize all available resources for a smooth conduct of the June 21 exam.

CBI Intensifies Investigation: Raids in Rajasthan
While the NTA prepares for the re-exam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is making significant progress in its probe into the paper leak scandal. On Thursday, a specialized CBI team reached Jamwaramgarh in Jaipur, targeting the residences of the primary suspects. The team spent approximately three hours at the location, questioning the family members of two brothers currently in CBI custody.

This investigative push follows the arrest of five individuals on Wednesday who are allegedly linked to the leak. The suspects include Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, and Dinesh Biwal from Jaipur. Additionally, the CBI has apprehended Yash Yadav from Gurugram, Haryana, and Shubham Khairnar from Nashik, Maharashtra. The investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the syndicate that compromised the May 3 examination.

Extensive Crackdown and Aspirant Advisory
The scale of the irregularities prompted a massive response from law enforcement even before the CBI took over the case. The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) had previously detained over 150 individuals, including candidates and their relatives, for their suspected involvement in the malpractice. The cancellation of the May 3 exam was a direct result of these findings, as the authorities sought to protect the merit-based system of medical admissions.

To assist candidates during this transition, the NTA has provided dedicated contact points for queries. Students can reach out via email at [email protected] or contact the official helpdesk numbers at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700. The agency has reiterated that any information regarding the exam should only be verified through these official means to avoid falling prey to rumors or misinformation.
