HAMIRPUR: Manjari V. Mahajan, Principal of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School CBSE Sujanpur Tihra in Hamirpur district, has been selected for the prestigious National Teacher Award 2026. President Droupadi Murmu will confer the award upon her at a special ceremony in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day, September 5.
A total of 48 teachers have been selected across the country for this national honor. From Himachal Pradesh, three names were originally recommended for the national award, among which Mahajan secured the final selection.
Pioneering Work in Education and Environmental Conservation
Mahajan has made significant contributions to education, innovation, and school leadership, while actively driving environmental protection initiatives.
Before her current posting, she served as the Principal of Government Senior Secondary School Bhaleth. Under her leadership, the Bhaleth school earned the Environment Leadership Award in 2026 and the Waste Warrior Award in 2025 for its dedicated efforts toward environmental conservation and promotion.
Felicitation and Community Credit
Following the announcement of her selection, Mahajan was felicitated on Saturday at the Office of the Deputy Director of Elementary Education. Deputy Director Kamal Kishor Bharti honored her and expressed immense delight at her national achievement.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahajan emphasized that her focus extended into environmental awareness campaigns aimed at sensitizing both students and local communities. Her national recognition has sparked widespread celebration across the school fraternity and the state.
Attributing her success to collective efforts, Mahajan credited community members, parents, teachers, and students for supporting her journey. She also urged educators not to view teaching merely as a profession, but to fulfill broader social responsibilities.
The felicitation event was attended by her husband Dr. Vikram Mahajan, Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog, Hamirpur; Grade-One Officer Kashmir Singh; and District Science Supervisor Rajesh Gautam.
