SOLAN: A total of 577 graduates were awarded degrees during the annual convocation ceremony of Bahra University on Friday. Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta attended the event as the chief guest alongside several university leaders, administrative officials, and distinguished dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Kavinder Gupta urged the graduating cohort to play an active role in realizing the vision of a developed nation, or ‘Viksit Bharat’. He encouraged young graduates to step beyond traditional job seeking and embrace entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership to generate employment opportunities for others.
Speaking to the media following the event, Sardar Gurwinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Bahra University and Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group, reflected on the institution’s 16-year journey since its inception in September 2010. He stated that the primary focus of the university has remained on delivering job-oriented education that enables students to secure strong placements or establish their own ventures.
Addressing the impact of emerging technology, Chancellor Bahra noted that the university integrated Artificial Intelligence across all its academic disciplines, including law and pharmacy, four to five years ago to meet evolving industry standards. He added that ample career opportunities exist across sectors in a developing economy, provided students demonstrate genuine interest, dedication, and industry-ready skills.
The event saw the presence of Chancellor Sardar Gurwinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) R. P. Nainta, Registrar Sh. Vineet Kumar, former MP Sh. Avinash Rai Khanna, Solan Deputy Commissioner Sh. Manmohan Sharma, alongside local administrative officials, faculty members, and parents. Established under the Bahra Educational and Charitable Society, Bahra University currently offers 60 academic programs and accommodates nearly 4,000 students.
