Himachal Cement Sariya Price Hike: The cost of construction in Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a sharp escalation, drawing heavy criticism from the opposition. Former Minister and BJP leader Dr. Rajiv Saizal stated that rising inflation has become the defining characteristic of the current Congress administration. He noted that building a house has now transitioned from a necessity to an unattainable dream for the average citizen.
Recent market data reveals a significant spike in essential building materials. Cement prices have surged by ₹15 per bag, while the price of sariya (steel reinforcement bars) has jumped by ₹1000 per quintal within a mere twenty-day window. Dr. Saizal remarked that these hikes effectively crush the aspirations of individuals who invest their lifelong savings into constructing a home.
The former minister criticized the government’s economic approach, describing it as a model focused on increasing taxes and prices at the expense of the public. He pointed out that this latest surge follows previous increases in stamp duty, electricity tariffs, water bills, and transportation costs across the state.
Dr. Saizal further alleged that the state government has failed to implement any concrete measures to stabilize the market. He claimed that the lack of intervention has allowed middlemen to operate without oversight. He argued that while the administration claims to focus on development, the reality remains a mounting financial burden on the populace.
The BJP leader concluded by announcing that the party will take this issue to the public. He emphasized that they intend to challenge the government’s policies at every level, labeling the current trajectory as fundamentally opposed to the interests of the common man.
