Manimahesh Yatra 2026: In a significant move to regulate commercial activities and ensure environmental protection on the Manimahesh pilgrimage route, the district administration has made it mandatory for shopkeepers to obtain prior permission from the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) to set up stalls.

This directive will apply to the entire stretch from Hadsar to Dal Lake. Additionally, the DFO office will levy a sanitation fee on all shopkeepers operating along this route. The administration clarified that the establishment of shops will strictly adhere to the guidelines laid down by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

ADM Bharmour, Vikas Sharma, announced these decisions during a meeting held with shopkeepers and priests of Hadsar village on Tuesday. He further stated that all illegal encroachments and unauthorised shops around the periphery of Dal Lake will be removed to maintain the sanctity and cleanliness of the high-altitude water body.

Addressing the infrastructural challenges, the ADM confirmed that repair work on the Hadsar to Dal Lake track which suffered extensive damage at multiple points during last year’s monsoon commenced on Tuesday. He has issued strict instructions to Public Works Department officials to expedite the restoration of the Bharmour-Hadsar road, which was blocked and broken due to landslides.

“Bridges damaged due to heavy rainfall at Dunali and Dhanchho will also be reconstructed afresh through the collaborative efforts of the Public Works and Forest Departments,” ADM Sharma informed the gathering.

During the interactive session, the ADM sought feedback from the Hadsar priests regarding the difficulties faced during the Manimahesh Yatra. He took note of their practical suggestions and assured that these inputs would be implemented effectively during the upcoming pilgrimage season. The meeting was attended by local shopkeepers, priests, and officials from multiple line departments.
