NEW DELHI — The spate of threats to bomb schools, colleges, courts, and government institutions across the country will likely come to an end now. In a major breakthrough following a year-long investigation, the Delhi Police has arrested a 47-year-old man from Karnataka for allegedly orchestrating a massive campaign of hoax bomb threats.
The suspect, identified as Srinivas Louis, is accused of sending more than 1,100 threat emails to schools, colleges, and high-profile government establishments across India, including Delhi, Noida, Chandigarh, and Ahmedabad.
The arrest was executed by a specialized technical team of the Delhi Police in Mysuru, Karnataka. Louis, a post-graduate originally from Bengaluru, was apprehended from a rented accommodation. Investigators recovered a laptop and several SIM cards from his possession, which were reportedly used to dispatch the digital threats that triggered widespread panic and multiple security mobilizations over the past year.

Technical analysis of IP addresses and digital footprints led the cyber cell to Louis, who had been targeting crowded and politically significant locations to maximize the impact of his threats. Despite his high educational qualifications, police officials confirmed that Louis is currently unemployed and resides with his mother, a retired government employee, depending on her pension for sustenance.
Preliminary interrogations suggest that the accused may be suffering from severe mental stress or psychological issues, which allegedly prompted him to carry out these disruptive activities. His targets frequently included courts and educational institutions, causing repeated lockdowns and security sweeps in major metropolitan hubs.
The Delhi Police is currently bringing Louis to the national capital on a transit remand for further interrogation. While initial evidence suggests he acted alone, the police are conducting a forensic audit of his seized digital devices to determine if he was part of a larger network or if there was any external provocation behind the spree of hoax communications.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to map the full extent of the digital trail left by the accused across various states.
