The Himachal Pradesh government has achieved another significant legal success, granting Mashobra Resort Limited (MRL) ₹401 crore from the Wildflower Hall property. The state will now become the sole owner of the company.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered that the state has become the sole owner of 50 percent of the joint venture company’s (JVC) bank deposits, shareholdings, and advances against capital. As per the High Court’s October 14, 2025, decision, the JVC’s bank balance of approximately ₹320 crore will be transferred to the state. Additionally, the court has ordered the state to pay ₹25 crore as per the arbitral award. East India Hotels’ (EIH) entire shareholding in the JV company, amounting to ₹13 crore, will be transferred to the state.
Furthermore, only 50 percent of the amount, or ₹68 crore, will be transferred to EIH. This amount will be returned in exchange for the ₹136 crore capital deposited by EIH in the joint venture company. This will result in an additional ₹68 crore benefit to the state. It is noteworthy that MRL was previously a joint venture company between East India Hotels and the state, operating the Wild Flower Hall property.
A state government spokesperson stated here today that this legal battle had been pending in court for nearly 30 years. Due to the special intervention and efforts of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the Supreme Court, in its order dated February 20, 2024, transferred possession and ownership of the entire Wild Flower Hall property to the state. Subsequently, the state government took physical possession and ownership of the property on March 31, 2025.
He stated that the state government, with the help of leading lawyers from the country, vigorously fought the case in court and succeeded in achieving a victory in the interests of the people of the state. Previously, the state was not receiving any financial benefits from this asset, but now, thanks to the proactive efforts of the current state government, the state is seeing positive results.
Earlier, in another case, the Supreme Court had given a historic decision in favor of the state regarding royalties from the Kadcham-Wangtoo Hydroelectric Project. The court directed JSW Energy Company to pay the state 18 percent royalty instead of 12 percent. This decision has generated revenue for the state of over ₹250 crore annually.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu expressed his satisfaction with this outcome. He reiterated that the current state government will continue its efforts to protect the interests of the people of Himachal and will not compromise at any level.
