India’s Wedding Season Begins: The festive season, which started with Navratri in Delhi and across the country on 22nd September, is now moving into its next big phase. After a good business period during Diwali, traders nationwide are now gearing up for the upcoming wedding season, hoping for a massive boom. The wedding season officially kicks off today, on November 1st.

According to media reports, the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), a top organization for traders and entrepreneurs, estimates that a staggering 45 lakh weddings will take place across the country during this season. This is expected to generate business worth a massive Rs 5 lakh crore nationwide. In Delhi alone, about 4 lakh weddings are anticipated, which could lead to business worth Rs 1 lakh crore.

“Vocal for Local” Shows Its Impact

CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal and Secretary General Gurmeet Arora mentioned that after the reduction in GST rates, there has been a significant shift in consumer buying behavior. Customers are now showing a clear preference for Indian products over foreign-made goods.

The ‘Vocal for Local Weddings’ campaign has significantly reduced the presence of imported products like Chinese lighting, artificial decorations, and gift accessories. Traditional artisans, jewellers, and textile producers are receiving heavy orders.

The 2025 wedding season is also expected to create over 50 lakh jobs. Professionals like decorators, caterers, florists, artists, transporters, and those in the hospitality sector will benefit directly. MSME sectors such as textiles, jewellery, handicrafts, packaging, and logistics will also get a seasonal boost.
