HP Nurses Recruitment: In a major push to strengthen healthcare services, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced plans to fill 400 nursing positions across medical colleges and health institutions. These recruitments will be made under the National Health Mission and on an outsourcing basis to address vacant posts. The Health Department is fast-tracking formalities to ensure swift hiring. Over the past four months, nearly 600 nurses have already been recruited and assigned to medical colleges and model hospitals across the state.

Additionally, the government recently hired 53 doctors, with their posting orders already issued. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, in a meeting with health officials, directed the department to prioritize filling vacant posts. Himachal currently has six medical colleges, one super-speciality hospital, and around 50 model hospitals.

Health Secretary M. Sudha confirmed that the state cabinet recently approved filling these 400 nursing positions, and the department has begun the necessary processes.

In another significant move, the government has waived the mandatory one-year field posting requirement for doctors serving at the Chamiana Super Speciality Hospital. This exemption applies only to doctors at this facility and not to those in other medical colleges or zonal hospitals. On October 10, the government revised its resident doctor policy, with further amendments made on October 15. A notification was issued on Friday, outlining the changes.

Under the new policy, postings under the National Health Mission, CMO offices, and the Health Directorate will count as peripheral postings for senior residents’ bond periods. However, services as Casualty Medical Officers will no longer be considered peripheral postings for bond duration. Senior resident selections will now be based on written exams, and appointments will be made in medical colleges in Shimla, Nahan, Hamirpur, Nerchowk, Chamba, and the Chamiana Super Speciality Hospital.
