Supreme Court Hands Over 16 Supertech Projects to NBCC, Bringing Relief to Homebuyers

The Supreme Court has ordered that 16 Supertech housing projects in Delhi-NCR be handed over to NBCC for completion. This decision has brought major relief to homebuyers who booked flats between 2010 and 2012 and have been waiting for possession for more than a decade. Nearly 51,000 homebuyers are expected to benefit from the order.

The court directed NBCC to complete all the projects within two years. It noted that Supertech had failed to finish the construction on time and had not delivered homes to buyers despite long delays. The court also took note of allegations that Supertech had diverted funds meant for these projects to other purposes.

By passing this order, the Supreme Court upheld the earlier decision of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). The NCLAT had approved the transfer of the stalled projects to NBCC to ensure timely completion and to protect the interests of homebuyers. The top court agreed that this step was necessary after finding that Supertech was unable to complete the projects.

The Supreme Court made it clear that its order is final and binding. It stated that no other court or forum will be allowed to interfere with the implementation of its directions related to the completion of these housing projects. This clarification was aimed at avoiding further delays and legal hurdles.

The ruling marks an important step for thousands of families who invested their savings years ago and were left uncertain about their homes. With NBCC now responsible for completing the projects, homebuyers hope that construction will finally move forward and long-pending promises will be fulfilled.
