A peaceful vacation turned into a nightmare in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district late Saturday night. Around 9 PM, a Tempo Traveller packed with tourists skidded off the road and met with a horrific accident in the Banjar area.
4 people have died in this tragic incident. Out of the passengers on board, 19 others are injured. In a massive relief operation, the administration managed to rescue 16 people from the wreckage, rushing them immediately to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The vehicle was carrying about 20 tourists who had come from different parts of the country, including Delhi, Rajasthan, and Chandigarh, to enjoy the mountain air. Their trip took a dark turn near Banjar when the driver suddenly lost control.
Local Heroes Join the Rescue
As soon as the news of the crash spread, local villagers didn’t wait for the authorities—they rushed to the spot to help. Shortly after, the police and administration teams arrived. Even in the pitch-dark night, a full-scale rescue operation was launched. The local residents worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the sarkar and police to pull the injured out of the valley.
The Challenges on the Ground
Kullu SP Madan Verma confirmed that the search operation is still going on. Because the terrain is very steep and difficult, and the accident happened at night, the teams faced a lot of trouble. However, the rescue workers are putting in their best efforts to ensure everyone is accounted for.
The administration has assured the families of the victims that they are doing everything possible to find those still missing and are providing the best medical care to the injured. Currently, the police are investigating the site to figure out exactly what caused the vehicle to go off the road.
