Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has launched a sharp counter-attack against Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur regarding his statements on dismantling the Congress party. Singh remarked that a leader who saw “Mission Repeat” turn into “Mission Defeat” during his own tenure should refrain from making such tall claims.
The Cabinet Minister noted that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not achieve a “Congress-mukt Bharat.” He asserted that Thakur’s claims are merely an illusion that will be shattered in the 2027 Assembly elections when the public reaffirms its faith in Congress policies.
Addressing rumors of joining the BJP during a function at Dreams College of Pharmacy in Sundernagar, Singh clarified his unwavering commitment to the Congress ideology. He stated that he does not require a “loyalty certificate” from anyone regarding his dedication to the party.
Singh highlighted his political lineage, recalling how his father, Virbhadra Singh, managed and strengthened the party from his private residence, ‘Holly Lodge,’ during the difficult period of 1977. He emphasized that his family’s legacy is rooted in supporting the party through its toughest transitions.
The Minister further explained that he is working above party lines to secure Himachal Pradesh’s rights from the Union Government, specifically focusing on the development of Mandi. He credited Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar for the state’s creation and Virbhadra Singh for its modern administrative foundation.
Regarding concerns raised by senior leader Thakur Kaul Singh, Vikramaditya Singh assured that these matters would be brought to the attention of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He stated that the government values the suggestions of experienced leaders and will take concrete steps to address any deficiencies.
