New Delhi: The assembly election results in five states have significantly reshaped India’s political landscape. The most striking turnaround was seen in Kerala, where the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) achieved a historic victory, toppling the long-standing leftist stronghold.

On this major win, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed gratitude to the people of Kerala and also congratulated Tamil Nadu’s emerging political star, actor Vijay, for his impressive performance.

“Kerala has talent, and now a government with vision”
Rahul Gandhi took to social media to celebrate the results, saying, “My brothers and sisters of Kerala, thank you very much for this decisive mandate.” He praised the hard work of UDF workers and leaders, attributing the victory to their dedication and precise campaigning.

He added, “As I have said before, Kerala has talent, capability, and now Kerala has a UDF government with the vision to utilize both. I will soon meet my Kerala family in person.”

Fall of the ‘Red Fort’ in Kerala
According to the results, UDF won approximately 100 of the 140 assembly seats in Kerala, securing a clear majority. The Left Democratic Front (LDF), which had been in power for the past ten years, was reduced to just 35 seats. Many senior leaders, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, lost their seats, marking the end of a long era of leftist governance in the state.

Phone call to Vijay and focus on youth
Rahul Gandhi also actively responded to Tamil Nadu’s election results. He spoke on the phone with actor and TVK (Tamilga Vettree Kazhagam) founder Vijay, congratulating him on the party’s strong performance. Rahul said, “I spoke to Thiru Vijay and congratulated him on TVK’s excellent results. This mandate reflects the rising voice of youth, which can no longer be ignored.” He also thanked Congress workers in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for their relentless efforts.

Other states: BJP shines in Bengal, NDA continues in Assam
Outside Kerala, Congress faces challenges in other states:

  • West Bengal: BJP achieved historic gains, winning over 200 seats, while Mamata Banerjee’s TMC suffered a severe defeat.
  • Assam: Under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the NDA won over 100 seats, securing a hat-trick of victories.
  • Puducherry: NDA also achieved a majority here.

A lifeline for Congress
Political analysts view the Kerala victory as a significant boost for Congress and Rahul Gandhi, providing momentum after challenging electoral outcomes in other states.
