KASAULI: Administrative and security agencies in Solan district’s Kasauli sub-division have been put on high alert after threat emails were received by the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office and the Army Public School in Dagshai ahead of Independence Day.
According to officials, the email sent on Friday warned of targeting government offices and prominent educational institutions during the August 15 celebrations. The message contained anti-national slogans and direct threats aimed at creating panic in the region. The sender also demanded that the information be conveyed to the media, school management, and parents. Reports suggest the email was sent to several other official addresses as well.
Taking immediate note of the incident, the local administration alerted the police and state security agencies. A formal case has been registered, and a probe is underway.
Kasauli SDM Mahender Pratap Singh confirmed that the police were notified immediately after the email was received. He stated that a dedicated cyber team has been deployed to trace the source of the email using IP addresses and server logs, while a dog squad has also been put on standby as a precautionary measure.
In view of the upcoming Independence Day events, the administration has initiated a comprehensive security review across all government offices, educational campuses, and sensitive public locations in the sub-division. Departmental heads have been directed to maintain strict vigil and report any suspicious activity or unidentified objects immediately.
Officials have advised the public not to pay heed to or spread rumors, assuring that security agencies are thoroughly investigating all angles and strict legal action will follow based on the findings.
