Lahaul-Spiti: The Lahaul-Spiti district administration has issued orders to regulate activities around the Atal Tunnel North Portal ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s proposed visit to the district on October 7, 2026. The measures have been announced in view of security arrangements, protocol requirements and the need to maintain law and order during the proposed visit.
According to an order issued by Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Kiran Bhadana, the Atal Tunnel North Portal and adjoining areas have been declared a “No Drones/Unmanned Aerial Zone” with immediate effect. The operation of drones and other unmanned aerial devices of any kind will remain prohibited in the designated area.
The administration has also ordered the suspension of tourism-related activities in the area. All vendors, tourism operators and people associated with zipline, river rafting and other related tourism activities will not be permitted to operate from October 5 to October 7, 2026.
In addition, all vendors and other persons occupying space in the area have been directed to remove their temporary or permanent arrangements and vacate the allotted or occupied premises by September 30, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioner has directed the concerned departments and officials to ensure strict compliance with the order and maintain coordination for the security arrangements.
The Superintendent of Police, Lahaul-Spiti; Deputy Conservator of Forests, Lahaul Forest Division, Keylong; Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Keylong; and Tehsildar, Lahaul, Keylong, have been directed to coordinate with all concerned agencies and ensure effective implementation of the order.
The district administration has appealed to all concerned vendors, tourism operators and the general public to follow the instructions and cooperate in maintaining security and law and order during the President’s proposed visit.
