DEHRA: Striking back against the allegations leveled by former Dehra MLA Hoshiyar Singh amid an ongoing Vigilance probe into the alleged misuse of the MLA discretionary fund, his elder brother, Kulwant Singh, addressed the media for the first time on Sunday. Terming the ex-MLA’s accusations completely baseless, Kulwant Singh asserted that he would respond to every charge with facts and documentary evidence.
Addressing a press conference in Dehra, Kulwant Singh claimed that until 2015, their company financially supported Hoshiyar Singh’s political activities and election preparations. He stated that expenses incurred on school programs, public events, election campaigning, and other activities were routed through the company, and complete records of these expenditures are available.
Kulwant Singh alleged that several financial decisions during the company’s operation were taken without his knowledge, adding that bank records and transaction documents are sufficient to bring out the truth.
“I have all company agreements, bank records, financial transactions, and other crucial documents. If needed, these will be submitted before the investigating agencies and the court. The dispute between us is not political, but the result of long-standing business and family differences,” Kulwant Singh said.
He further revealed that a written agreement regarding share transfer in the company was executed with a third brother under specific terms. However, those conditions were later violated. Kulwant Singh alleged that Hoshiyar Singh is now colluding with the third brother to oust him from the company, adding that a notice was also issued in this regard and all related documents remain safely in his possession.
Reaffirming his trust in the legal process, Kulwant Singh stated that if any complaint is filed against him, he will present his defense within the framework of the law. He mentioned having previously submitted a complaint to the police and expressed readiness to take further legal action if required. He assured full cooperation with investigating agencies whenever summoned.
Denying any political backing, Kulwant Singh clarified that no political party or leader was behind the press conference, emphasizing that his sole objective was to place his side before the public and media. He demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter.
Earlier, former MLA Hoshiyar Singh had issued a video message from abroad, outrightly rejecting the Vigilance FIR related to the alleged misuse of discretionary funds. Hoshiyar Singh had claimed there was no scam and characterized the case as an attempt to give a criminal color to a family business dispute. He had accused Kulwant Singh and his nephew of conspiring against him over property and business matters, alleging they used company employees as complainants to approach the Vigilance department.
