Dharamshala: The picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala has received a historic honor. For the first time, it will host an IPL playoff match. The IPL Governing Council released the playoff and final venue list on Wednesday. It confirmed that Qualifier 1 will be played at the scenic ground on May 26.
This is not a regular league game. This is a high-stakes knockout clash. It marks the first instance of Dharamshala hosting four matches in a single IPL season. The venue will stage three league matches before the playoff. The action begins on May 11 with a contest between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. On May 14, Punjab Kings will face Mumbai Indians. The final league match is scheduled for May 17. It will feature Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

HPCA Secretary Manuj Sharma expressed gratitude for the opportunity. He specially thanked IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal and BCCI officials. “It is a matter of great pride for the state. The first Qualifier 1 playoff of this IPL season will be held in Dharamshala. Before that, three crucial league matches will also take place here,” Sharma said.
