KULLU: There is good news for tourists travelling from Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh to Jammu and for passengers heading to Jammu. A new air service is being planned from the Kullu-Manali Airport at Bhuntar to Jammu. The flight between Kullu and Jammu will operate via Hisar. The process for this new service has been initiated, and a 48-seater Alliance Air aircraft is proposed to be deployed on this route.
“The process to start the Bhuntar-Jammu via Hisar air service is underway. A 48-seater aircraft is proposed on this route. Information on how many days a week the flight will operate and its timing will be clear later,” said Siddharth Kadam, Director, Bhuntar Airport.
Bhuntar to Jammu via Hisar Flight
The addition of a new city to Bhuntar Airport’s air connectivity is expected to benefit the tourism business of Kullu-Manali. Besides travellers from Jammu, people from Hisar and nearby areas will get another air option to reach Kullu-Manali. Currently, flights from Bhuntar Airport operate to Delhi, Amritsar and Jaipur.
Bhuntar Airport’s Connectivity to Expand
It is notable that Alliance Air’s 48-seater aircraft is currently serving these routes. However, the flight to Dehradun has been suspended for the past few months. In this context, the new flight to Jammu is being seen as an important step towards enhancing Bhuntar Airport’s connectivity.
Pilgrims Travelling to Vaishno Devi to Benefit
Manali hoteliers Roshan Thakur, Manu Sharma and Rakesh Kumar said, “Expanding air services from Bhuntar Airport is essential to promote tourism in Kullu-Manali. If a flight service to Jammu also starts, it will benefit tourists. Pilgrims travelling to the Vaishno Devi temple will also be able to take advantage of it, and tourists will be able to reach Manali easily from Jammu by air.”
