DHALIARA (KANGRA): A surprise inspection by Congress MLA Kamlesh Thakur at the CBSE-affiliated Rajkiya Adarsh Varishth Madhyamik Pathshala in Dhaliara triggered alarm in the education department. The lawmaker, who represents the Dehra assembly constituency, was shocked to see the poor state of the school premises and its unhygienic conditions.

During the inspection, Kamlesh Thakur took the principal and staff to task. She reminded the principal that they were former classmates and questioned the decline in standards. Pointing out that the government spends nearly ₹1 crore annually on the school, she warned that such negligence would not be tolerated.

The MLA also reviewed the newly developing Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School at the same location. Despite heavy investment, the institution has failed to attract even a single admission. Basic facilities remain absent, and inadequate seating arrangements have deterred parents from enrolling children.

Staff shortage emerged as a major concern, with several key positions, including that of the principal, lying vacant. This has severely affected teaching and overall functioning. Kamlesh Thakur directed concerned departments, including PWD and the electricity board, to immediately address the shortcomings. She instructed officials present to expedite repairs and improvements.

The MLA announced that a modern building for the Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School, estimated to cost crores of rupees, would be constructed soon as the tender process has already been completed. She issued a stern warning that any laxity in the education system would not be tolerated and such surprise inspections would continue in the future.
