A tractor-trolley transporting 35 pilgrims from Punjab overturned at a treacherous turn near Dhaliyara in Himachal Pradesh. The group was traveling from the Chintpurni temple toward the Jwalamukhi temple after offering prayers when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The Dehra Police responded to the site immediately to initiate rescue operations and manage the resulting traffic congestion. Local residents joined the police in transporting the victims to the Civil Hospital in Dehra for emergency medical attention.
Upon arrival at the hospital, medical officers declared three individuals dead. Currently, thirteen passengers are receiving treatment, while six others in critical condition have been moved to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in Tanda.
Police officials confirmed that nine children and several other passengers escaped the crash without injuries. The families of all the victims have been formally notified of the tragedy as legal proceedings begin.
Authorities have registered a case at the Dehra Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Forensic evidence has been collected from the site to determine the exact cause of the mechanical or human failure.
In response to the incident, the police issued a stern traffic advisory for hilly terrains. Devotees and the general public are urged to avoid overloading vehicles and to strictly follow speed limits on winding mountain roads.
The advisory further emphasized the necessity of technical vehicle inspections before traveling. Officials also reminded drivers that the use of safety gear and total abstinence from intoxicants are mandatory for road safety.
