SHIMLA: The Special Judge (Fast Track Court, Rape/POCSO), Shimla, has convicted a school lecturer in a POCSO case involving sexual harassment and sentenced him to six years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000.
The court found accused Jay Prakash (46), also known as JP and a resident of village Karyali in Sunni, guilty under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 10 of the POCSO Act. The case was registered as FIR No. 50/2024 on November 1, 2024, at Sunni police station.
The police conducted a thorough investigation, collected necessary evidence, and presented it before the court. Effective prosecution led to the conviction of the accused, officials said.
The identity and dignity of the victim have been strictly protected throughout the proceedings as per legal provisions. The district police in Shimla have reiterated their commitment to child safety and stated that strict action will continue in all such sensitive cases.
