Punjab and Haryana High Court Evacuated After AI-Generated Bomb Threat Email

Chandigarh: Security personnel rushed to the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday, April 2, following a bomb threat received via email, triggering a swift evacuation and search of the premises.

The email landed at the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) around 6 am, warning of a possible explosion at the court complex. It was sent from a Hotmail account and referenced Dravidian politics. Sources familiar with the matter told The Indian Express that the message, written in Hindi, appeared to have been translated using an AI-based application.

The alert came just two days after an incident in which a crude bomb was hurled at the BJP’s Punjab office in Chandigarh.

Police immediately evacuated the court and surrounding areas. Teams from the bomb disposal squad arrived on site and began scanning the premises, while a thorough search operation got underway. As of now, it remains unclear whether the threat is credible or a hoax.

A cyber investigation team has been tasked with tracing the email’s origin and IP address. More details are expected as the probe continues.
