Keylong: Army personnel from the 26 Punjab Unit have reached Keylong as part of a cycling campaign aimed at promoting physical fitness, discipline, courage and the spirit of national service among young people. The campaign, which began from Ambala Cantonment, is being conducted via Keylong and will continue onwards to Jalandhar.
The Army personnel are expected to cover around 1,200 km by bicycle during the campaign. As part of the initiative, the Army team is holding interaction programmes with school students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and local youth at various locations.
Led by Team Leader Captain Aneesh M. and Deputy Team Leader Subedar Kulwant Mann, the personnel interacted with students and young people at Palchan, Keylong, Pandoh and Chauntra. During the sessions, the Army personnel explained the functioning of the Indian Army, the importance of discipline and national service, and various career opportunities available in the armed forces.
Students were also informed about eligibility requirements, selection procedures and different entry schemes for joining the Army. The personnel shared their experiences and encouraged the youth to come forward for national service.
A question-and-answer session was also organised, during which students asked questions related to Army recruitment and career opportunities. The personnel answered their queries and guided them. Students who gave correct answers and actively participated in the sessions were presented gifts as encouragement.
The programmes were organised at Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Palchan; PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Pandoh; and PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Chauntra. Interactions were also held with local youth in Keylong and Kullu.
Students and young people participated enthusiastically in the programmes. The Army personnel encouraged them to remain physically fit, follow discipline and always be prepared for national service.
