Supreme Court Refuses New Law on Hate Speech, Flags Enforcement Gap
India’s Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that existing laws are sufficient to punish hate speech and rumour-mongering, rejecting pleas for new offences. The bench stressed that the real issue lies in enforcement failures, directing police to act promptly and courts to ensure proper legal compliance.
