LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated the online application process for pilgrims seeking financial assistance after completing the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Under this scheme, operated by the Department of Religious Affairs, eligible pilgrims who are original residents of the state will receive a grant of Rs 1 lakh.
According to the official government order, pilgrims must submit their applications online on the department’s official website, www.updharmarthkarya.in, within 90 days from the date of completing their journey.
To avail of the subsidy, applicants are required to upload several documents, including a recent passport-size photograph, Aadhaar card, PAN card, residence certificate, copies of their passport and visa, bank account details, and the official Kailash Mansarovar Yatra completion certificate along with other necessary records.
The first batch of the 2026 Kailash Mansarovar Yatra flagged off from Indirapuram in Ghaziabad on June 15 and returned on July 2 after completing the pilgrimage. Those who were part of this batch and meet the eligibility criteria can now apply for the state subsidy.
In a related development, another batch of pilgrims has left for the holy pilgrimage via Nepal from Bahraich. The group, staying at the Bliss Resort, was sent off with Vedic chanting and traditional tilak ceremonies.
This particular contingent includes devotees from Mumbai, Meerut, Khatauli, and Rishikesh. The organizer of the tour, Mukesh Bansal, stated that the group will travel through Nepalgunj to reach the Mansarovar Lake. Pilgrims in the batch, including Alok Agarwal from Mumbai, Kamal Nayan Gohal from Meerut, and young devotee Pradhanya Deshmukh, expressed that the journey is a deeply inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Other devotees in the group include Arvind Gupta, Pushpa Deshmukh, and Rakesh Kumar.
