SHIMLA/ JAIPUR: Former MLA Attar Singh Bhadana died after being critically injured in a violent clash over a crusher plant dispute in Bhonda village, located in the Weir police station area of Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district. The incident took place around 6:30 PM on October 11.

Bhadana was the father of Kiran Bhadana, the Deputy Commissioner of Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul-Spiti district. Upon receiving news of her father’s sudden death, DC Kiran Bhadana left Keylong for Rajasthan on Monday morning.

According to initial media reports, efforts were being made to restart the crusher plant in Bhonda village, which had been closed for nearly a year. A dispute broke out between Bhadana and local villagers when he arrived at the plant on Sunday evening.

The argument quickly escalated into a violent clash. A group of villagers allegedly attacked Bhadana and his associates with sticks and stones, leaving them severely injured.

Attar Singh Bhadana and his associate Gagan Sharma sustained critical injuries in the attack and were taken to the Weir Sub-District Hospital. Following primary treatment, Bhadana was referred to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, while Sharma was sent to Bharatpur. Bhadana succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the Jaipur hospital.

Following the violent incident, heavy tension prevailed in Bhonda village and surrounding areas. A large police force has been deployed at the spot to control the situation and prevent any untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, Kamlesh, the wife of the deceased former MLA, leveled serious allegations against the local police and administration. She stated that despite having knowledge of the ongoing dispute over the crusher plant and the disconnection of the lease connection, timely and appropriate administrative action was not taken.

The incident has triggered a wave of grief across the region. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep condolences over the sudden death of Attar Singh Bhadana, praying for the peace of the departed soul in a social media message. MLA Anuradha Rana, along with administrative officers, employees, and local citizens of Lahaul-Spiti, also expressed their deep condolences to the bereaved family.
