IMD WEATHER FORECAST: New Delhi, July 12, 2023 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for several states across the country, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next few days.

REGIONAL WEATHER FORECAST

Northwest India: The IMD has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad between July 14th-16th. Himachal Pradesh can expect heavy rainfall between July 13th-18th, while Uttarakhand is likely to experience heavy rainfall between July 12th-18th, with very heavy rainfall on July 13th.

East and Central India: Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall between July 12th-14th, with isolated heavy rainfall continuing till July 18th. Chhattisgarh can expect heavy rainfall on July 12th and between July 16th-18th. West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to experience heavy rainfall between July 13th-15th.

West India: The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa between July 12th-15th. Gujarat Region is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall between July 12th-16th, with very heavy rainfall on July 13th and 14th.

Northeast India: Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura can expect isolated heavy rainfall between July 12th-18th. Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience heavy rainfall between July 14th-18th.

South Peninsular India: Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Karnataka are expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall between July 12th-18th. South Interior Karnataka can expect heavy rainfall on July 12th and between July 15th-18th. Tamil Nadu is likely to experience heavy rainfall between July 15th-18th.

WEATHER WARNING

The IMD has also issued a warning for strong surface winds (40-50 kmph) over South Peninsular India for the next 5 days. Hot and humid weather conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu on July 12th and 13th, and in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema between July 12th-14th.
