Meta Muse AI: Meta has launched its Muse AI Agent for Mac computers. According to the company, this is the first version of Muse that can work with information and apps available on a Mac. It is not limited to answering questions like a conventional chatbot; rather, it is designed to complete a variety of tasks on the computer.
Can Work with Files and Apps
The Muse AI Agent can work with apps on a Mac, including Files, Messages, Calendar, Notes, and Mail. Users can assign tasks to Muse, such as organising folders, compiling summaries by gathering information from emails, chats, and notes, or assisting in completing an incomplete form using files stored on the Mac. According to Meta, Muse is intended not just to provide information but to help users get work done on their computers.
Muse AI is Different from a Chatbot
Meta states that Muse’s key distinction is that it is not merely an AI that responds, but functions as a personal assistant on the computer. When users assign a task, Muse can help complete it using information available on the Mac. This eliminates the need for users to manually provide information each time.
Work Will Continue Across Phone and Laptop
Muse is not limited to Mac alone. Users can start a task on their phone and later continue it on their laptop. According to Meta, Muse can carry tasks across different devices. Users can also access it through WhatsApp. The company says Muse can continue working even after the app is closed. This means users can hand off a task to the AI without needing to wait for it to be completed.
Users Will Retain Control Over Access
Meta has incorporated access controls in Muse with user privacy in mind. User permission will be required for computer access. Full Disk Access has also been kept optional. Users can change permissions at any time by going to Settings. According to Meta, Muse will seek user approval before performing sensitive tasks. Actions such as deleting files or sending messages will not be carried out without permission.

Meta has also made the Muse app available for free to iPhone and Android users. The company says more features will be added to Muse in the coming days. Muse for Mac can be accessed via Meta’s official download page.
