NEW DELHI: In a major push to accelerate manufacturing and industrial development across the country, the Union Government has launched the ‘BHAVYA (Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna) Scheme’ to develop 100 plug-and-play industrial parks.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced the launch of the scheme’s guidelines on Saturday. The initiative aims to boost the manufacturing sector, attract investments, and strengthen India’s position as a global manufacturing hub.
The central government has allocated a substantial budget of ₹33,660 crore for this ambitious scheme. Approved by the Union Cabinet about two months ago, the scheme will be implemented in collaboration with state governments.
Under the plug-and-play model, these industrial parks will offer ready-to-use infrastructure, including power, roads, logistics, and other essential facilities. This setup will enable companies to set up operations and start production without any delay.
The government plans to implement the scheme in a phased manner. According to the Minister, 20 industrial parks will be launched in the first phase within the next two months. This will be followed by the launch of another 30 parks in the subsequent two months, bringing the total to 50 industrial parks within the first four months.
The government expects the scheme to stimulate industrial activity across various states, benefiting small and medium enterprises as well as large investors.
Union Minister Goyal emphasized the need for state governments to create a conducive environment to attract industries. He stated that states must formulate policies that ensure faster clearances, better connectivity, and a business-friendly ecosystem.
The central focus remains on developing industrial clusters that offer all necessary amenities under one roof, which will help reduce production costs and strengthen the supply chain.
The BHAVYA scheme is expected to drive significant investment in key sectors, including electronics, automobile, textiles, green energy, and engineering. It is also aligned with strengthening the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaigns, positioning India securely in the global supply chain. The government anticipates that these industrial parks will generate millions of new jobs in the coming years.
