Kullu: A horrific incident has come to light in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, where a speeding car allegedly rammed into a pedestrian, dragged him for several feet, and ran over him a second time on Naggar Road.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Ramkrishna, died on the spot. Following the incident, the police registered a murder case against the car driver based on an eyewitness account.
The eyewitness, a taxi driver named Om Prakash, stated in his police complaint that he was driving towards Naggar on Monday after getting his vehicle washed at Madhi. On the way, a car bearing a Delhi registration number (DL 12CU 0584) overtook his vehicle.
Om Prakash alleged that there were two men and a woman inside the car, and the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
The complainant further stated that near the Naggar Farm Road area, the car driver veered into the wrong lane and hit Ramkrishna, who was walking along the correct side of the road.
The impact was so severe that the vehicle dragged Ramkrishna for about 25 feet. The driver then allegedly reversed the car and ran over him again, ensuring his death at the scene.
Following the collision, the driver attempted to flee with the vehicle, but alert locals managed to intercept and stop the car a short distance away.
The driver was identified as 29-year-old Vikrant Vij, a resident of Karol Bagh, New Delhi.
The Patlikuhl police station has registered a case against the accused based on the statement provided by Om Prakash.
Superintendent of Police, Kullu, Madan Lal Kaushal stated that a thorough investigation into the matter is underway and action is being taken considering all aspects of the case.
