iOS 26.5.1 update: Weeks after launching the iOS 26.5 update, Apple has rolled out iOS 26.5.1 to address a specific charging glitch affecting a section of its users. Unlike major software iterations, this maintenance release does not introduce new features but focuses purely on system stability.

The update comes in response to growing user complaints following the previous iOS 26.5 rollout. Several users of the iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air reported a frustrating bug where their devices failed to charge via a wired connection if the battery percentage dropped to an extremely low level.

According to Apple’s official release notes, the iOS 26.5.1 patch directly targets this issue. The tech giant confirmed that the bug affected a small group of users across the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the newly launched iPhone Air.

As a pure maintenance release, the update contains no additional feature upgrades or aesthetic changes. Its primary objective remains fixing the charging roadblock and improving the overall operational stability of the supported hardware.

Eligible users can download the update by navigating to the Settings app, selecting ‘General’, and tapping on ‘Software Update‘. From there, clicking ‘Download and Install’ will initiate the process.

The update size varies depending on the current OS version. For instance, on an iPhone 17 Pro Max already running iOS 26.5, the file size is approximately 17.44GB. Users upgrading from much older versions can expect a larger file size and a longer installation window.

The iOS 26.5.1 update is available for all devices compatible with the iOS 26 ecosystem. The comprehensive list of supported models includes the iPhone 17 series (iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 17e), iPhone Air, the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, as well as the second and third-generation iPhone SE models.
