SHIMLA: The Bharatiya Janata Party in Himachal Pradesh will launch a phased state-wide public agitation starting August against the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government. Himachal BJP president Dr. Rajiv Bindal announced the decision following a special meeting held at the party’s state headquarters, Deepkamal.
Dr. Bindal stated that the agitation will begin at the mandal level and subsequently expand to the assembly, district, and state levels. He claimed that the Congress government has failed to fulfill the promises made to the public before the elections, leaving the people of the state feeling betrayed.
The BJP chief alleged that the state government has closed down several schools, colleges, primary health centres, government offices, veterinary hospitals, and other institutions across the state. He added that these closures have caused severe difficulties, particularly for residents in rural areas, and the BJP plans to take these issues to the public to demand answers from the government.
Criticizing the state’s infrastructure and public services, Dr. Bindal highlighted the poor condition of roads and expressed concern over increasing electricity and water bills, which he said have put an additional financial burden on the general public. He further alleged that promises made to farmers, orchardists, women, youth, and government employees remain unfulfilled, with the election guarantees failing to materialise on the ground.
Outlining the party’s roadmap, Dr. Bindal said BJP workers will reach out door-to-door and village-to-village to make people aware of the government’s allegedly anti-people policies. He affirmed that the party will continue its democratic struggle for public interests until the Congress government is removed from power.
