Solan: A two-day national conference on “Advanced Materials and Simulation Techniques” concluded at Bahra University, Shimla Hills, on Thursday, bringing together academicians, researchers, faculty members and students from several leading institutions across the country.
The conference, organised on September 10 and 11, provided a platform for meaningful academic exchange and discussions on emerging developments in advanced materials, simulation techniques and their applications in research and technology.
Participants from institutions including Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Chandigarh University, IIT Bombay, Amity University, Shoolini University, Kurukshetra University, DIT University Dehradun, Kirori Mal College, Delhi, Rayat Bahra Professional University, Lovely Professional University and NITTTR Chandigarh took part in the conference.
The conference was inaugurated by Professor Mahavir, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University, who stressed the growing importance of research and innovation in addressing contemporary challenges. He encouraged young researchers to pursue meaningful research and explore ways of connecting scientific knowledge with real-world applications.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Sandeep Kumar Agarwal of Kurukshetra University, who spoke about the evolving landscape of advanced materials and simulation-based research. He highlighted the role of computational and simulation techniques in understanding complex scientific problems and developing innovative solutions.
The technical sessions witnessed presentations and academic discussions involving experts, faculty members and research scholars. Dr Sandeep Chauhan and Dr Ramesh Thakur from Himachal Pradesh University were among the academic contributors, while Manisha Kohli chaired a technical session. The sessions provided researchers and students an opportunity to present their work and interact with experts from different institutions.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session, which was attended by retired Professor Ghanshyam Chauhan as the chief guest. He congratulated the organisers and participants for successfully bringing together researchers and academic institutions on a common platform. He emphasised the importance of such conferences in encouraging scientific curiosity, collaboration and a research-oriented approach among young scholars.
Sardar Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of Bahra University and Chief Patron of the conference, congratulated the participants, researchers and organising team on the successful completion of the conference. The university leadership also appreciated the efforts of the organising team. Vice-Chancellor Professor RP Nainta, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Sushil Chaudhry, Registrar Vinit Kumar and Dean Academic Professor Sumita Sood congratulated the organisers and participants for making the conference a success.
Professor Gagan Bhargav, Conference Convenor, said that the conference had provided an important platform for interaction among researchers from different institutions and would help strengthen a culture of research and innovation at the university.
Dr BK Sharma and Dr Minakshi Sharma, Co-Convenors, expressed their gratitude to the invited experts, participating institutions, faculty members and research scholars for their contribution to the conference.
The organising responsibilities were coordinated by Dr Inesh, Dr Parul Sharma and Dr Dinesh Thakur, along with the faculty members and research scholars of the School of Basic Sciences, whose collective efforts contributed to the smooth conduct of the two-day event.
The conference concluded with an emphasis on strengthening academic collaboration, encouraging young researchers and creating greater opportunities for interdisciplinary research in advanced materials and simulation technologies.
