Electric Taxi Service in Delhi: The automobile and electric mobility landscape in Delhi-NCR is set for a major transformation as commuters prepare to get a brand-new travel option. Vietnam’s prominent conglomerate, VinGroup, is gearing up to introduce its electric taxi brand, Green SM, into the Indian market.

According to media reports, the company will officially roll out its electric cab service on June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day. The grand launch is scheduled to take place during a special event at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.

Ahead of the official launch, several distinctive green-colored Green SM taxis have already been spotted on the roads across various areas of Delhi-NCR. This indicates that the company is finalizing its network, technical infrastructure, and customer service operations. Some users on social media have even claimed to have successfully registered accounts and booked test rides via the company’s mobile application.

Green SM will utilize the VinFast Limo Green electric MPV for its taxi operations. This modern electric vehicle is designed to provide passengers with enhanced cabin space, comfortable seating, and a quiet ride experience. The vehicle is equipped with a 60.13 kWh capacity battery pack, which is considered capable of delivering high performance over long distances while contributing to lower pollution levels.

The entry of Green SM comes at a time when the demand for electric vehicles is rising continuously in India, backed by government push for clean transportation. Industry observers believe the new entrant will offer customers better service quality, competitive fares, and more choices, driving up competition in the electric cab segment.

The company plans to expand its network in a phased manner, starting with an initial fleet of around 10,000 electric cars in the first phase. Furthermore, there are discussions to induct nearly 1 lakh electric two-wheelers into the service in the near future.

VinGroup’s ambitions extend beyond taxi services. The company plans to enter the Indian electric scooter and electric bus markets as well, having recently announced the expansion of its manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu.
